Meet Kawai
Your Co-Instructor
Kawai Lai is a transformation consultant, where she collaborates with leaders to design equitable and innovative futures for organizations and communities. Her passion for fostering innovation has been a cornerstone of her career, particularly in the independent school sector.
As Vice President of Innovation at the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS), Kawai spearheaded initiatives to empower school leaders and educators to embrace change and build sustainable, forward-thinking practices. She also co-authored The New Team Habits (2020), a practical guide that helps teams adopt effective behaviors for collaboration and innovation.
Kawai’s entrepreneurial spirit is evident in her role as co-founder of VizLit, an organization dedicated to unlocking the visual literacy of learners, and her work as a founding team member of Education Elements, an ed-tech startup that helped schools implement personalized learning models.
Earlier in her career, Kawai worked at Deloitte Consulting, leading large-scale technology transformations. A lifelong learner, Kawai holds an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Southern Methodist University.
